Saltcote

After a devistating fire we needed a responsive team with the skill sets to restore our Grade 2 listed building designed by World Famous architect Sir Reginald Blomfield.

Ashley and James and the team attended site within 24 hours and created the “take off drawing” which were perfect and never needed amending, they were available to consult at the end of the phone whenever related trades needed to speak with them. They then sourced and hand crafted stone to perfectly match the original.

During the construction phase they worked long cold hours without ever being late or grumpy, it was at all times a pleasure to work with them. They took down all the fire damaged stone and carried out all the remedial works required before carefully installing the stonework that they sourced and created themselves from their initial take offs.

Our project ran without a hitch, the end result received many extremely kind comments from all parties including the our Local Authority, Rye Conservation Society and all other trades with whom they engaged.

We could not be happier with the end result, if you are serious about wanting a great job carried out by nice people you can talk to in plain English who are reliable and honest then speak with these guys.

Croxley, Kent Ragstone

This property was built in the 1800’s out of the locally sourced Kentish Ragstone, and then extended in the 1980’s with modern brick. The client has decided that she would like the brick side of the building to match the original 1800’s building.

After the work had been carried out to amend the original extension we sourced and built the new gallated Kentish Rag facade and new window heads, designed to match the original.

We also restored sections of the original rag and pointing as required to ensure its conservation and carried out repairs to the original window surrounds damaged during the installation of the new windows.

Brick Tinting, Sevenoaks

Our client had recently completed a ground floor extension. However as is normally the case the new bricks didn't match the existing due to years of weathering and aging. Rather than trying to clean up the stubborn old brick it was better value for our client to blend (age) the new brick to match the existing.

After cleaning up the new brick work and pointing we applied 4 different custom tints. These were all mixed on site and tested individually and tweaked to ensure the perfect match.

They were then hand applied to each individual brick to make it seem the extension was built with the original.

Worktops, Chatham

Once the kitchen had been professionally fitted we were brought in to install the stone worksurfaces.

Taking the drawings we were given we carried out on site templating and measuring to ensure the perfect fit, including the cut out for positionings of the sinks etc. This also gave us time to discuss the exact stone, finish and edging details desired by the client.

The stone was then hand worked in singular pieces for each worktop. It was then safely installed on site, manually placing and fixing the up to 250kg pieces in place, taking care to ensure no damage or chips to the delicate edges.

Each worktop was then finished and sealed in situ ready for the appliances to be installed by other contractors.

Great Saxham Hall

Complimenting the grade 2 listed building from 1798, a Kentish Ragstone set of steps, risers and paving was added to a new entrance.

Installed onto the concrete prework, the slabs and separate risers are carefully laid to the exact height using laser, levels and packers. Pointed up in a matching colour pointing mix to complete the finished look.

Kitchen, Bearsted

This time we weren't just asked to complete the new worktops but we also got involved in the remodel of a newly purchased house.

We assisted with the removal of the stud wall between the original kitchen and dinning room. Carefully removing the stud and plaster wall, ensuring the kitchen was still usable. We also removed, blocked up and insulated the old backdoor.

Lastly once the new kitchen carcass had been install, we leveled the units up and installed the new Carrara Venatino quartz worktops, upstand and splash backs.

Wall Pier, Mayfield

The existing entrance between the two original piers on this property was particularly narrow, especially with todays larger modern cars and the increasing number of vehicle parking opposite the property. Therefore we undertook the project to remove and reinstate one of the piers, removing part of the wall to provide a wider entrance.

Having first broken back the existing wall, salvaging as much stone as possible, a new footing was dug and poured. Using reclaimed bricks and reworked stone from the dismantled wall a new identical pier was built. A new sympathetic pier cap was the hand crafted and installed. We also hand cut and shaped a new corner section to the remaining pier on the entrance to restore damage it has suffered previously.

Paving & Walls, London

Working on a prestigious building in the capital, we undertook work to replace stone slabs and walling that had been previously installed but failed due to a rusting issue in the stone provided.

We dismantled the previously installed stone and installed new precast stone slabs, panels and copings.

The large slabs were laid on a pod system, raising them off ground level, allowing for hidden drainage. These were all leveled individually to meet the existing steps and entrance.

Vertical panels were then fixed along the walling, cut to suit the changing drive level. These were then topped with copings units.

Chimneys, Cotswolds

Having been condemned, we safely took down 4 chimney stacks on a traditional Cotswolds cottage. All the stone was salvaged to be reused elsewhere. Including 2 of the caps to be reused on the new stacks.

The stacks were replaced with locally sourced Cotswold stone, and when we say local we mean within 5 miles. These stones were installed and buffed and faced in situ. We then installed the new caps in 4 pieces, including altering the cap for the still used stack and adding ventilation to the others.

We also carried out restoration and conservations on the remains of the original stacks both for aesthetics and to ensure water tightness.
